This study delved into the significant impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on organizational operations, particularly highlighting the challenges of employee turnover stemming from social distancing measures. Grounded in Bass’s transformational leadership model, the research explores the association between leadership style and employee job satisfaction in a local government organization in Washington state during the pandemic era. The study uncovers critical determinants of effective leadership strategies impacting employee job satisfaction through a mixed-methods approach, including support, communication, leadership, telework, safety, empowerment, and trust. The findings underscore the necessity for adaptive leadership styles in times of crisis and provide valuable insights for organizational leaders navigating unprecedented change, ultimately emphasizing the critical role of leadership in sustaining the workforce and reducing turnover amidst disruptive challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic.
